CELL Meetings at UNESCO, Paris

On 13 and 14 December 2017, CELL’s Executive Director, Atif Rizvi, and Principal, Ayla Bonfiglio, met with UNESCO’s Education and Social and Human Sciences Sectors to discuss possible areas of future collaboration. UNESCO’s work on Holocaust and Genocide Education, the Prevention of Violent Extremism through Education, and Youth Engagement, to name just a few, are areas that align with CELL’s work on divisive or discriminatory content in educational media. Over the past year-and-a-half, since CELL formally launched at UNESCO, CELL and UNESCO have collaborated or jointly been involved in a number of activities, including a workshop on the prevention of violent extremism (led by CELL’s partner, the Georg Eckert Institute) and a panel at the World Science Forum in Jordan.
