About the Stereotool
Drawing upon survivor testimonies, historical accounts of conflicts, poetry, proverbs, and news reports (to name a few), the Stereo Tool enables people to come face-to-face with divisive stereotypes at the center of conflicts, past and present, from across the world. Alongside each divisive stereotype, the Stereo Tool reveals the conflict in which it is embedded, the location and duration of conflict, as well as the estimated number of casualties and persons displaced from their homes. With this information, we invite you to consider the power that divisive stereotypes have in creating fear and, ultimately, promoting hostility against a group of perceived “outsiders” or “enemies.”
